Before you start
Make a
plan! write out a revision timetable that you can stick to
Find
somewhere quiet, Not in front of the TV! Make sure its well lit.
Be nice
to your brain! It becomes less effective at absorbing information after 40
mins so... do take frequent breaks, stretch, walk about (Not watching TV!)
How to Revise
Reading is not enough. Revision means action!
So...
Make notes.
Write down the main headings for the topic, and list key points below
them. Use a different colour for the headings. Highlighting makes points
easier to remember.
Make spider
maps. These are a good way to revise.
Test yourself.
Check you know a diagram by covering up the labels. Answer questions past
papers and BBC Bitesize. Check back to see what you get wrong and why.
Repeat.
Look at your revision notes again, at intervals. For example at the end of
the revision session, next day, a week later and so on. This will help you
remember everything.
Ask for help.
If you don't understand something, don't waste too long on it. Ask your
teacher for help.
